Les Chefs d’Oeuvre d'Alsace is a compact, family-run restaurant nestled on Strasbourg’s busy Grand'Rue, known for serving traditional Alsace fare with a focus on local flavor. The atmosphere inside is cozy and welcoming, reflecting the modest size of the place; diners often find themselves in close quarters, which adds to a friendly, communal vibe rather than a formal setting.

This spot works well for visitors looking to immerse themselves in Alsatian culinary classics like flammkuchen and the hearty choucroute garnie slow-cooked with multiple meats. Those hoping to sample rich regional dishes will appreciate the careful preparation and authenticity, from creamy mushroom-sauce veal to a classic vanilla bourbon crème brûlée for dessert. Pairing dishes with the house-brewed beers is a popular choice, adding a local touch to the meal.

The restaurant’s size means it fills up quickly, especially around mealtimes, so making a reservation or arriving early is advisable. Seating is mostly indoors, but on warmer days, the option to sit outside along the street offers a chance to soak up the lively Strasbourg atmosphere. Diners can expect prompt and friendly service, often from attentive family staff who know the menu well and are happy to recommend dishes or drinks.

While prices lean toward the higher side—reflective of the tourist-heavy locale—the portions are generous enough to balance that, making it suitable for those not just passing through but wanting to linger over a genuine Alsace meal. This place suits food lovers interested in traditional recipes served with straightforward hospitality rather than polished fine dining.

We ordered the hanger steak with onion sauce and the chicken puff pastry with gravy. Both were quite good, though the former could use some more reduction of the sauce as there was just a bit too much alcohol in the taste. The prices were a bit steep for what they were, but the portions were generous, and it comes with the territory being in a tourist area. Service was fast and efficient (though not particularly friendly but we don't really care), and the place was very cute and close to the train station.

Really good choucroute garnie and, surprise surprise, tagliatelle bolognese. We tried the beers and were very happy with the way they went down with the food. Friendly service made us feel welcome at our first meal in Strasbourg, thank you Selena!

Amazing authentic local good. Incredibly friendly family run business. Even their toilets were spotlessly clean. We sat inside and ordered two of their traditional dishes. Highly recommended. It's not a tourist trap and we would definitely dine here again. Thank you

Service was friendly. The food was excellent. We did not have to wait too long before our food was served. We both had the tartes flambées. We will certainly return to this cute restaurant. The only problem is as we paid by card, we didn’t have any cash to give a just reward to our lovely waitresses. And we couldn’t add it to the bill.

We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant and can highly recommend it. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, as the restaurant is very small and has only a few tables. We tried to book a table on the same day, but it was already fully booked. Luckily, we were offered a seat outside, which we gladly accepted. A blanket would have been a nice touch, but that’s really just a minor detail. The service is absolutely top-notch. The two sisters, in particular, are incredibly friendly and attentive – you feel truly welcome. The food was outstanding. We had the traditional pasta, and it was simply amazing – super delicious and perfectly prepared. Conclusion: Fantastic service, incredible food – we will definitely be back.

came here on a monday around 12:30 without a reservation and our server, Selen, was so nice to let us sit at a table that is reserved, just for an hour (before the original customers came) and we ordered the tagliatelle bolognese and it was fantastic. pasta was cooked just right and the sauce was flavourful, would definitely recommend the tagliatelle bolognese, as well as the tagliatelle carbonara! the creme brûlée with had was fantastic! the sugar freshly fired and the creme itself was so custards and delicious would definitely recommend this place if you’re in strasbourg
